Root Canal Therapy If the pulp of your tooth is decaying or if you have an abscess on the root of your tooth we will perform a Root Canal Treatment. This involves removing the pulp and nerves from the tooth. Typically this treatment requires at least 3 appointments until it is completed. We may suggest a crown to be placed on the tooth after this procedure to restore strength to the tooth and prevent further deterioration. Common signs to indicate you may need a Root Canal Treatment include; severe aching when placing pressure on tooth, extreme sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, tenderness and swelling in gums, darkening of tooth, or a persistent abscess on gums. Mouth Reconstructions Full mouth reconstruction is designed to repair and restore teeth, gums and oral structures when multiple concerns arise simultaneously. Taking into consideration the smile, speech, bite, facial support, jaw joint health and longevity of of the result. You may desire a mouth reconstruction if you have multiple missing or damaged teeth, gum disease, wear and tear or other issues stemming from TMJ disorder, or other dental issues. Dental Implants Dental Implants are used to replace missing teeth with the use of a 'screw' that is surgically implanted into the jaw bone. This is usually done in stages over a couples of months with a series of minor operations. When the site is fully healed, a crown will be made to fit into the implant. Periodontal Gum Care Periodontal care refers to the treatment of gum issues generally caused by poor oral hygiene. These gum issues can result in gum, tooth or bone loss in extreme cases. To treat the gums we clean in and around the gum tissue and pockets. You may require periodontal care if you experience red, swollen and tender gums, gums that bleed, gums that are receding, bad breath, toothache, loose or lost teeth. Extractions A tooth extraction may be required for many reasons, including severe damage or decay. We prefer to save the teeth through other treatment when possible but sometimes the tooth is damaged beyond repair and will need to be removed to avoid infection or other complications. You may require a tooth extraction if you have; severe tooth decay, a tooth fracture, an impacted tooth, crowded teeth, or severe gum disease. Dentures Dentures are fake teeth that are made specifically to fit your mouth. They replace missing teeth and aid in speech, eating, facial structure, and confidence issues that may accompany tooth loss. A full denture rests on the gums and replaces an entire row of teeth. A partial denture replaces some teeth and is held in place with clasps around the remaining teeth. An Implant-retained denture replaces one or more teeth and is fitted through implants in the jaw. |

Veneers
Veneers are thin layers of material that cover the front of the tooth to improve appearance. Veneers can be made of either porcelain or resin materials. Porcelain tends to look more realistic and last longer than resin, but they are also more expensive. To prepare teeth for veneers, a small amount of natural tooth surface must be removed for the veneer to sit properly. This means that veneers are a permanent treatment. Crowns A dental crown is a covering for a tooth to either improve the look of a discoloured, decayed or broken tooth, or to protect a weak tooth from breaking. Crowns are generally made with porcelain or metal materials. To prepare the tooth for a crown, a layer of the natural tooth surface will be removed. We will take moulds of your teeth and send them to a technician who will prepare your crown. We will adhere a temporary crown to protect the tooth until the permanent crown arrives. When the permanent crown is ready, we will fit it place using a permanent cement or adhesive. Bridges A bridge is a false tooth, generally made of porcelain, that is held in place by the teeth on either side of the gap. In a traditional bridge, the false tooth (or teeth) is connected to crowns on either side of the gap. This is the preferred type of bridge as it provides the most support and most natural look. Similarly to the traditional bridge, a cantilever bridge is held in place by a crown on the abutting tooth, but only one tooth is required for support. Another type of bridge is the Maryland bridge, which replaces the use of crowns with a metal or porcelain framework which is glued to abutment teeth. Inlays and Onlays Partial coverage inlays and onlays are a more conservative restorative solution than crowns. A dental inlay sits 'in' the tooth where a onlay sits 'on' or over the tooth. Inlays and onlays are designed for moderately worn or broken down teeth from the forces of chewing or grinding. ZOOM Teeth Whitening We provide in office and take home ZOOM whitening treatments. For in office whitening, we will isolate your gum and soft tissue from tooth surfaces. Once we apply the whitening solution, we will accelerate the lightening process with exposure to a strong UV lamp. This will be repeated three times and take approximately 45 minutes. After this appointment you will be instructed to eat a white food diet for 48-72 hours to avoid staining. Alternatively, we can provide you with a take home ZOOM whitening kit which is less expensive but takes one to two weeks to see results. |
